Step 1: Assess the situation

1.    Notify the emergency services if nobody else has already done so. Use a roadside emergency telephone if possible, as your GPS location will be transmitted to the authorities automatically.
2.    Stay on the spot while waiting for help; do not try to move your vehicle.
3.    If you spot an injured person or a person trapped in a car, find out if any of the people present are a doctor or a person trained in first aid. It is inadvisable to attempt to handle a wounded person without training.
4.    Remember to fill in a report (with or without the authorities present) with each driver who hit or was hit by your vehicle.

Step 2: Make a claim

Contact your agent or send a motor claim to claims@axa.lu. You can also submit your claim directly in your MyAXA customer portal.
The nature of a pile-up means several parties are involved. It is often very difficult to determine each person’s degree of responsibility in this type of accident.

Step 3: Am I properly insured?

•    The OptiDrive Privilège plan (equivalent to comprehensive CASCO) means all damage to your vehicle and your passengers is covered by the insurer.
•    Security or Driver Protection Cover allows your medical expenses to be taken care of if you are injured as a driver of the vehicle.
Refer to your policy or contact your advisor for more details.
