Prepare Your Home

• Have your boiler and heating equipment serviced.
• Have your chimney serviced and swept in accordance with applicable regulations.
• Protect water pipes and meters that are exposed to freezing temperatures.
• Have salt or another suitable material on hand to make walkways safe when necessary.
• Keep an eye on trees and branches near your home, as they may become heavier with snow.
• Check your gutters and drainage systems.

Prepare your car

Before the first snowfall:

• Check your windshield wipers and lights.
• Check tire pressure and condition.
• Equip your vehicle in accordance with current Luxembourg regulations for winter conditions.
• Keep equipment in the vehicle that is appropriate for your trips and the forecast conditions.

On the road

• Reduce your speed and increase following distances.
• Anticipate braking and changes in direction more carefully.
• Adapt your driving to visibility and road conditions.
• Yield to snow removal vehicles and obey road closures.
• Use snow chains only under conditions for which they are suitable and in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
