Our essential guarantees

When your trip doesn't go according to plan, AXA is there before, during and after.

  • Illness, pregnancy complications, divorce, theft of identity papers, a change in employment circumstances and more. If you are unable to travel, your travel, rental and accommodation costs will be reimbursed up to €25,000 per year.

  • AXA covers your medical expenses abroad. What's more, if repatriation is necessary, we reimburse the unused portion of your trip.
    24-hour support is available to coordinate your medical care and provide you with local assistance.

  • Your luggage is protected for the duration of your trip in the event of loss, theft or damage.
    If your luggage is delayed on arrival, up to €150 for essential items may be reimbursed so that you can continue your trip with peace of mind.

  • "My bank card already covers me": true or false?

    Not always. Some bank cards include travel cover, but it is often subject to several conditions:

    ✖ The trip may need to have been paid for using the card

    ✖ Reimbursement limits may be low

    ✖ The length of the covered trip may be restricted

    Medical assistance

    In the event of a medical emergency during your travels, initial emergency care will be provided by the local authorities.
    Once you are safe, contact AXA Assistance:
    - Hospitalisation United States & Canada: (+1) (305) 530 86 00
    - Hospitalisation Rest of world: (+352) 44 24 24 48 48
    - Repatriation, transport to hospital, search or rescue: (+352) 44 24 24 46 24
    AXA Assistance:
    - Liaises with a local doctor to monitor your condition and organise repatriation or the dispatch of a local doctor, if necessary.
    - Reimburses medical expenses in addition to social security cover.

  • Trip cancellation

    If your trip has to be cancelled for a reason covered by our Travel cover, you can claim reimbursement of the costs incurred. If you have used a travel agency, contact them as soon as possible.
    You should also take all reasonable steps to minimise the financial consequences of the cancellation.
    Then send your cancellation claim within 5 days to:

    All relevant information and supporting documents can then be sent within 30 days.

  • Theft, damage or loss of luggage

    If your luggage has been stolen, the first thing to do is lodge a complaint with the judicial or police authorities at your travel destination.
    Then contact AXA Assistance on +352 45 30 55 for further instructions.
    AXA Assistance can:
    - Arrange the dispatch of replacement luggage
    - Cover essential expenses
    - Provide assistance in the event of the loss of travel documents, identity documents or means of payment.

  • There is no limit on the number of trips. Cover is valid all year round, for all your trips, anywhere in the world.

  • Yes, from the very first day of your trip, whether you're going for a weekend in Paris, a week in the Canaries or a month in Asia.

  • Cancellation costs are reimbursed in the event of serious illness, accident, strike action, a claim at your home, theft of identity documents within 48 hours before departure or a medically certified inability to receive a vaccination.

  • Cash is not considered luggage but is covered in the event of theft involving assault, provided that a police report is filed.
